While Germany are worthy favourites judged in their recent performances on the international stage, Denmark are a top ten side according to the Fifa World Rankings and should not be dismissed as no hopers where Euro 2012 is concerned. It could well be a tighter affair than the pundits believe.

Morten Olsen’s Denmark side topped their group during qualifying for the 2012 European Championships and have been rather unlucky to be drawn against three such high quality teams in Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal for their group games at the tournament proper.

The 1992 European Champions finished above both Portugal and Norway during their qualification campaign and earned themselves a top ten Fifa World Ranking in the process. They could well prove to be the dark horses of this competition.

Currently challenging Spain for favouritism at the head of the Euro 2012 market, Germany are likely to be a side that will make it to the latter stages of the competition.

A lot of pundits sat up and took notice following the German’s excellent qualifying campaign and they now look set to challenge for major honours for the foreseeable future.

The three time European Champions have not won a major trophy since 1996 but will be looking to put that right in Poland and the Ukraine.
