This is the penultimate game in Group D and the final match in the group stage for both these sides as England clash with home nation Ukraine at the Donbass Arena in Donetsk.

The English will expect to have a decent amount of points on the board by this stage but with the group being so competitive, this match could prove crucial with regard to who goes through to the knockout stage of the tournament.

With home advantage, the Ukrainians are sure to have a large number of supporters and it will be a difficult atmosphere for England to cope with.

England have had a number of injuries to cope with coming into Euro 2012 and the loss of Lampard and Cahill will be a big blow to Roy Hodgson and his team.

Lampard would have offered a wealth of experience to the younger players and the fact Hodgson has decided to omit Rio Ferdinand means the defence is looking a bit weak.

The manager looks to be trying to play a similar style of football to that which he employed at Fulham and it has worked well in his two friendly matches to date. This competition is likely to be very different however and the new boss will do well to reach the quarter final stage.

Although they have not been involved in a major championship since their World Cup quarter final appearance in 2006, the Ukraine are a decent footballing side on their day.

The fact that they did not have to qualify for the 2012 European Championships being a home nation, meant they had plenty of time to prepare for the tournament and it would be no surprise to see Oleh Blokhin’s men perform with credit at Euro 2012. England might have just too much for them here however.
