France will hope to be comfortably into the knockout phase of the competition by this stage but nothing can be taken for granted at this level and it could well be Sweden that are in the driver’s seat coming into this game.

France start the match as favourites but the value could lie elsewhere.

They may be rated as 66/1 outsiders to win the 2012 European Championships by the bookmakers, but Sweden are definitely not also rans in this competition if their recent form is anything to go by.

The Swedes are ranked at 17th in the world by Fifa and they have made great strides in the last couple of years, having been down as low as 43rd in the world in 2010.

Players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic are sure to make their presence felt in this tournament and can help Sweden to put up a good showing during the group stages.

France have also made a number of improvements since the 2012 World Cup and look to be getting back to somewhere near the old selves under manager Laurent Blanc.

Winners of the European Championship in 2000, the France have been in huge decline over the past decade but their fans will be hopeful of a good showing at these championships.

The squad look a lot more settled since the arrival of Blanc and their showing during qualification for Euro 2012 was impressive. A draw might well be enough to see the French through by this point of the competition.
