Reading host Arsenal in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday, with the Royals an outside price of 16/5 for their first win in five matches.

Arsenal, who have struggled in recent weeks, are short at 5/6 so are best avoided, especially with manager Arsene Wenger almost certain to ring the changes.

The Gunners relied upon a late Mikel Arteta winner to see off bottom of the league and winless Queens Park Rangers on Saturday. Their performance was anything but convincing and the decisive goal – which was offside – came after the R’s had been reduced to ten men.

While it remains to be seen how many of those Arsenal players survive the League Cup rotation policy those that do could be forgiven for suffering from a case of de ja vu when they line up against the hooped shirts of Reading.

Incidentally the Royals last win also came against QPR – albeit over a month ago. Since then Brian McDermott’s team have drawn three and lost one of their four matches since including a topsy-turvy 3-3 result at home to Fulham last time out with Hal Robson-Kanu’s 90th minute strike rescuing a point.

Reading have not kept a clean sheet this season and despite the shut-out against QPR Arsenal’s defence has looked lapse recently so get on both teams to score at 4/6. And with six goals in their previous two Capital One Cup run-outs back Reading over 1.5 at 2/1.
