A great way to start proceedings this weekend with two sides going into battle at Anfield who are both coming off the back of tremendous victories. Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish will be delighted to have won a trophy this season and lift some of the incredible pressure on his shoulders to bring the glory days back to this once great club.

It needed penalties to finish Cardiff off and neither side deserved to lose but Liverpool got the job done in the end and it will be interesting to see if that victory has a positive result on their league form, particularly at home.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be equally pleased that his team came from two goals down to take last weekend’s North London Derby by five goals to three. His team showed real spirit and cut the gap between them and their bitter rivals to seven points, moving into the all important 4^th Champions League place in the process. Looks set up for another Anfield draw.
