Southampton Premier League 2012/13 Betting PreviewEnglish Premier League, Football Betting Tips
It’s taken a while – eight years to be exact – and they’ve had to come via League One but Southampton are back in the Premier League.
The Saints under Nigel Adkins have followed the path laid out by Norwich and Paul Lambert in securing back-to-back promotions to come marching into the bright lights of football’s elite.
A few eyebrows were raised when Southampton splashed over £8m on Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez, who despite his goalscoring efforts last season remains somewhat untested. Adkins has also recruited Nathaniel Clyne from Crystal Palace and midfielder Steven Davis from Rangers.
You can rely on…
Ricky Lambert to find the net. The journeyman striker (pictured) scored 31 league goals last season and he could replicate the success of Norwich’s Grant Holt.
Where should your money go?
Despite the additions to Adkins’ squad Southampton still look relatively un-equipped for life in the Premier League – a feeling shared by the bookies who make them favourites for relegation at 11/8.
However, the Saints are just short of evens to go the whole way with their Norwich impression and secure a top 15 finish or surpass 36 points for the season.

Southampton’s relegation from the Premier League in 2004 ended a run of 27 years in the top flight.
