Poland v England Tips & Betting Preview

Poland v England Tips & Betting Preview

Hot off their rout of San Marino last week England travel to Poland on Tuesday for their World Cup qualifier as the even money favourites for the win.

Those odds are reasonably fair, which is surprising considering the patriotic market, and should be duly taken advantage off.

Poland may have won their previous two matches but neither victory will strike fear into the heart of Hodgson’s squad.

A 1-0 friendly win against a weak South Africa side last week is easily discounted, while their 2-0 besting of Moldova, on home soil, doesn’t compare too favourably next to England’s corresponding 5-0 success.

Additionally, the Three Lions enjoy an excellent head-to-head record with Poland, reading six wins from the last seven matches.

England strolled past San Marino’s part-timers in the expected fashion, garnering several positives from the win in the process, namely Wayne Rooney’s first international goal in over 12 months.

Rooney’s brace also marked his first competitive strikes of the season and should put the Man United man in good confidence for the trip to Poland.

However, his first goalscorer odds of 5/1 still look on the short side so instead opt for Danny Welbeck, who also notched twice at Wembley, at 6/1.

Rooney is prone to dropping deep and relinquishing goalscoring positions, his United teammate is not, making him a more attractive punt.

It is also advised to combine the two selections in the win/score market where Welbeck and England are 10/3.
