Everton v Liverpool Tips & Betting Preview
English Premier League, VIP Gambler of the Day
Everton host Liverpool in the first Merseyside derby of the season on Sunday lunch time – and the bookies’ prices don’t reflect the current axis of form on Stanley Park.
Most firms offer little deviation between the two teams’ victory odds but it is possible to get Everton, currently enjoying their best start to a Premier League season in years to sit six points clear of Liverpool in fourth place, at 17/10, which is simply too good to pass up.
Match Odds
Everton 17/10
Draw 23/10
Liverpool 8/5
David Moyes may enjoy a poor record against the Red neighbours – he is yet to manage a single victory at Anfield in his ten-year spell in L4 – but his past results against Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers give much more reason for optimism.
In Everton’s two wins against Swansea, where Rodgers was then manager, Moyes successfully employed his team to shut down the Northern Irishman’s intricate passing style.
Joe Allen, who has subsequently followed Rodgers to Liverpool, was completely negated by Marouane Fellaini and with the rangy Belgian reportedly fit for Sunday that 17/10 could look like a bargain.
This fixture last season was rendered a joke early on in the first half thanks to Martin Atkinson sending off Jack Rodwell – a decision which was subsequently overturned. Andre Marriner is the referee this time around but regardless of the man in the middle this game attracts red cards in the same way Imogen Thomas attracts footballers.
Sunday is fancied to be no different so take the 3/1 avaialble for a sending off.
