Manchester City are heavily odds-on to exorcise their midweek humbling in Holland with victory over Swansea on Saturday evening.

The Premier League holders, whose Champions League campaign was all but ended by a 3-1 defeat to Ajax on Wednesday, host Michael Laudrup’s Swansea, with the Welsh club as big as 14/1 with some firms.

Last season this fixture marked Swansea’s baptism into the Premier League and although their display was not as despondent as many critics had predicted they still succumbed 4-0, thanks in part to a dazzling Sergio Aguero debut display.

City manager Roberto Mancini will be hoping for a similar margin of victory this time round. The Italian has been the focus of a barrage of criticism following the loss to Ajax with right-back Micah Richards hinting that the players were confused by their manager’s defensive systems.

With Swansea looking a decent side again this season – they come into the match on the back of a 2-1 bettering of Wigan – there is no value in backing City at such short prices, however they are fancied for the win.

Instead get on Edin Dzeko to score and City to win at 6/5. The Bosnian international has been in great form so far and bagged a brace in the win over West Brom last weekend.

City are yet to keep a clean sheet and with Michu providing the Swans with some attacking bite also go for both teams to score at evens.
