Sir Alex Ferguson is set to re-jig his back-line from that which conceded two goals against Stoke on the weekend when Manchester United host Braga at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra will both be rested with Alexander Buttner and Scott Wootton filling in. Ferguson has also confirmed that Ashley Young will be involved at some point as the midfielder makes his comeback from a knee injury which has seen him miss most of the season’s opening exchanges.

United are odds-on to make it three wins from three in the group stages as they look to exorcise the memory of last season’s early exit from the competition. Braga, in comparison, have suffered a mixed start to their European campaign with a shock defeat to FC Cluj before besting Galatasaray last time out.

Tuesday’s match will mark the first time these two sides have ever met, however United are no strangers to Portuguese opposition splitting the points in both their meetings with Benfica in last season’s competition.

Domestically Ferguson’s team have been a banker for over 3.5 goals but it is a different story in the Champions League.
