Arsenal will be hoping to bounce back from their shock defeat to Norwich on Saturday when they host German side Schalke in the Champions League on Wednesday, with the bookies favouring the Gunners at evens.

Victory at the Emirates will see Arsenal extend their lead at the top of Group B, however Schalke will overtake the north Londoners should they prevail instead.

The German representatives will mark Arsenal’s toughest test this season in European action and they come into Wednesday’s match having won their previous two fixtures, including a morale boosting 1-0 defeat of last season’s Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund.

With that form in mind it’s hard to justify backing the Gunners at odds as short as evens for the win and the draw looks a good bet at 5/2. Arsenal have shown they can hold their own with the Premier League big boys this season thanks to a hard-fought draw with Man City, and a point would represent a good night’s work for Arsene Wenger’s side.
