2012 John Deere Classic Betting Tips & OddsGolf Betting Tips
The 2012 John Deere Classic gets under way on Thursday 12th July, with the fourth and final round taking place on Sunday 15th.
It’s the warm up event prior to the British Open Championship for players on the PGA Tour, but is also a big tournament in it’s own right.
Silvis in Illinois is home to the John Deere and a number of the top players on tour line up this week to battle it out for the title but they will have to be at their best to stop Steve Stricker (pictured), who has managed to win the last three renewals of this event.
The TPC at Deere Run plays host to the 2012 John Deere Classic. A par 71 course, the Deere Run stands at 7,257 yards in length and was designed by D.A. Weibring Golf Resources in association with PGA Tour Design Services. This course has been the venue for the John Deere Classic since 2000 and it had previously been held at the Oakwood Country Club as well as the Crow Valley Country Club.
Female golfer Michelle Wie has received sponsor’s exemption for this tournament in both 2005 and 2006, giving the event more exposure and TV coverage in the process.
American Steve Stricker is the defending champion here. He has in fact won the last three renewals of the John Deere Classic and is well fancied by the bookmakers to make it four titles in succession. Betfred have put Stricker in as a 7/1 chance to win the 2012 renewal this week.
I’m finding it very hard to look past the favourite here and it’s arguable that he is value even at the relatively short price. Stricker has achieved four top ten finishes in eleven starts this year and could join an elite list of players who have won a tournament in four consecutive years.
A decent each way play this at the John Deere could well be 50/1 shot Charley Hoffman. He finished second at the Travelers Championship and has a very solid record in this tournament having achieved 15th and 7th place finishes in the last four years.
