2012 BMW Championship Tips & Preview
Golf Betting Tips
This week’s action on the PGA Tour comes from Carmel, Indiana in the shape of the 2012 BMW Championship. With the Deutsche Bank Championship only finishing on Monday night, the players don’t have much of a break before this event gets underway on Thursday 6th September. The fourth and final round takes place on Sunday, September 9th. Justin Rose comes here as the defending champion and the Englishman will be looking to put on another good performance in the lead up to the 2012 Ryder Cup.
The Crooked Stick Golf Club plays host to this year’s BMW Championship, moving from the 2011 venue, the Cog Hill Golf & Country Club. The course has a par score of 72 and stands at 7516 yards in length. It has previously hosted the PGA Championship as well as the 2005 Solheim Cup. There is a huge price fund of $8m up for grabs this week as well as 2,500 FedExCup points. Only the top 70 players on the PGA Tour following the Deutsche Bank Championship qualify for this tournament, therefore, we do not have a cut after two days.
As a two time BMW Championship winner, Tiger Woods is likely to be popular with punters this week at odds of 7/1. He has been more consistent in recent months and finished very well at the recent Deutsche Bank Championship to finish in third spot. Tiger’s -22, 262 final score in 2007 is the tournament record and if he can carry on his improvement this week, I think he could well be the man they all have to beat.
For punters looking for an each way play in Indiana, last year’s winner Justin Rose, pictured above is a sporting price at 40/1. Although he missed the cut last week, Rose has been in impressive form all season and came fifth at the Bridgestone Invitational before finishing third in the final Major of the year, the PGA Championship. The price looks too big as far as I’m concerned and if he can get off to a flyer as he often does, Rose’s odds will tumble significantly.
