European Ryder Cup Fightback Sinks The BookiesGolf Betting Tips, VIP Gambler of the Day
Europe’s comeback from 10-6 down to win the Ryder Cup at Medinah on Sunday had the bookies licking their wounds with punters backing Jose Olazabal’s team at prices of up to 12/1 on the final day.
But European success was no surprise to The VIP Gambler readers as our golf tipster Jamie Currie advised a blue win pre-tournament at 11/8.
The profits didn’t stop there though with Jamie also tipping Poulter to be the top European at 8/1 before play got under way in Chicago.
The Americans went into the final day as short as 1/8 for the win with Europe out to 10s with some firms. As the fightback materialised the live markets had Olazabal’s team down to 11/4 before drifting out to 13/2 with just three matches left to play.
The trophy was retained when Martin Kaymar sunk a testing putt on the 18th to take Europe to the critical 14-point mark in the penultimate match.
And with Tiger Woods leading Francesco Molinari on the final green it looked as if the tournament was heading for a draw – available at 25/1 ante-post – but the former world No 1 missed a short putt to gift Europe the outright win at 14 1/2 to 13 1/2.
One leading bookie tweeted after Woods’ missed putt: “Tiger Woods, we are not happy with you right now. Punters absolutely cleaned up, backing Europe as long as 12/1 tonight #ouch.”
The same firm had earlier tweeted: “Golf trader in tears. Not out of joy. Europe retain the Ryder Cup.”Claim Your Free £20 Bonus Now
