2012 Frys.com Open Golf Betting Tips & Preview
Golf Betting Tips
The PGA Tour heads to California this week for the Frys.com Open which is part of the Fall Series. The action gets under way on Thursday 11th October, with the fourth and final round taking place on Sunday October 14th. Bryce Molder comes here as the defending champion following a titanic six hole playoff battle against Briny Baird in 2011. Betfred make Molder a 40/1 chance to land back to back Frys.com Open titles.
The CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, California plays host to the 2012 Frys.com Open. The course stands at 7,368 yards in length and has a par score of 72. Robert Trent Jones Jnr designed the layout and it definitely presents an interesting challenge for the PGA Tour professionals. This tournament began life in 2007 as the Fry’s Electronics Open, and was held at Grayhawk Golf Club’s Raptor Course. The CordeValle Golf Club has been the permanent home of the Frys.com Open since 2010.
While some of the big guns aren’t competing in this week’s event having opted to take part in the Turkish Airlines World Golf Final, there are still some top players lining up in California. The Open Championship winner Ernie Els is at the head of the betting, being giving a quote of 16/1 from Betfred. Els hasn’t exactly set the world alight since is amazing Open victory, but he could well be back to his best with the likes of Woods and McIlroy missing.
I think veteran Vijay Singh could be a serious contender for the 2012 Frys.com Open. He’s challenging Els at the head of the market and rightly so considering his consistent performances on Tour this year. Singh has made 10 consecutive cuts, and also managed three top 10 finishes during that run. He started very well last week but was let down by his final two rounds. Singh is long overdue a victory, and it could well come at CordeValle.
My second fancy for this week is the American Josh Teater. Teater has been in ultra consistent form of late, and finished in joint 7th spot at the 2011 Frys.com Open. He was another player to fade in the final round last week, but still finished inside the top ten. At odds of 33/1, he’s a solid each way selection.
