2012 CIMB Classic Odds & Tips Preview
Golf Betting Tips
The PGA Tour travel to Malaysia this week for the CIMB Classic. The event is co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and gets under way on Thursday 25th October, with the fourth and final round taking place on Sunday October 28th. Although a number of the big guns are playing at the BMW Masters and the Grand Slam of Golf, there is still an excellent field for the CIMB including Tiger Woods, Jason Dufner and last year’s winner, Bo Van Pelt. Those three players dominate the betting, and in their current form, it’s not hard to understand why.
Playing host to the 2012 CIMB Classic is the The MINES Resort & Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The course stands at 6,917 yards in length and has a par score of 71. It’s a relatively easy test for the PGA Tour professionals and I’d expect to see some very low scores this week if the last two years are anything to go by. Bo Van Pelt comes here as the defending champion following his final score of -23 last year. Van Pelt is also coming off the back of victory in Perth last week on the European Tour and you could make a strong case for the 8/1 on offer with Betfred being a value price.
Tiger Woods, pictured above has really got back on top of his game in recent months and has managed ten top 10 finishes from 20 events played this year. He will certainly be a serious contender this week in Malaysia but I’m not sure I’d want to be taking the 10/3 on offer about Tiger winning his fourth tournament of 2012.
The 40/1 on offer about Ryan Palmer looks very fair consider the American’s performance in this event last year. He finished in seventh place in 2011 and converted 17 birdies during his four rounds. Palmer has come into his own in the last couple of years and is a decent each way bet at juicy looking odds.
While my second pick may be a little unoriginal, I’m finding it very difficult to look past the in form Bo Van Pelt. Victorious here last year, he put up a rock solid performance to win in Australia last week and hold off the excellent Jason Dufner in the process. I’ll be shocked if Van Pelt isn’t in the mix come Sunday and the 8/1 on offer is well worth snapping up.
