2011 Newmarket July Festival Tips

The big summer meeting at Newmarket run on the July course kicks off on Thursday 7th July. Below are The VIP Gambler’s  top betting tips for this exciting Newmarket festival.

Tip Day 1 Newmarket 3.45pm 7th July

The big race on Day 1 is the Princess Of Wales’s Sportingbet.com Stakes. Joint top rated for the race are the Saeed Bin Suroor trained Campanologist, and my fancy, Redwood from the Barry Hills yard. The fact Redwood normally plys his trade in Group 1 events means he should hold very strong claims dropped to Group 2 level. The form of his 2nd place in the Dubai Sheema Classic behind Rewilding last time out looks rock solid following that horse’s win at Royal Ascot. Having gone well fresh in the past, Redwood should be very hard to beat.

Tip Day 2 Newmarket 3.10pm 8th July

Day 2 sees the Group 1 Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes take centre stage. The Aidan O’Brien trained Misty For Me is likely to be at the head of the market following her impressive victory in the Pretty Polly Stakes when defeating Henry Cecil’s multiple Group 1 winner Midday. That form is rock solid and she also looks to have the beating of stable mate Together on the back of their clash in the Irish 1,000 Guineas. Following another change of stables, it will be interesting to see how Strawberrydaiquiri performs now she has joined Brian Meehan’s ranks.

Tip Day 3 Newmarket 3.45pm 9th July

Saturday’s Darley July Cup is undoubtedly the race of the meeting. Monsieur Chevalier’s excellent run in the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot under Kieren Fallon would give the Richard Hannon trained runner a great each way chance in this Newmarket showpiece. He’d been off the track for over a year when finishing down the field in the King’s Stand earlier that week but really came on for the run when just getting touched off by Society Rock. James Fanshawe’s runner wouldn’t be without a chance but I just get the impression Monsieur Chevalier has the greater scope for improvement. Monsieur Chevalier is available at odds of 16/1 with bet365. Godolphin’s Delegator was an intended runner at Royal Ascot but was withdrawn due to unsuitable conditions. He had looked mightily impressive when winning the Duke Of York Stakes earlier this season and must enter calculations coming into this race relatively fresh. At 4/1 with William Hill, Delegator looks to have a very solid chance of victory.
