Saturday’s Horse Racing Tips From Newmarket & Channel 4
Horse Racing Tips
Saturday’s horse racing action comes from Newmarket, Haydock Park, Chester, Market Rasen and Wolverhampton. There is also racing in Ireland from Navan. The pick of the days racing comes from Newmarket, who stage two Group 1 contests, including the Cheveley Park Stakes and the Sun Chariot Stakes. Channel 4 are showing a selection of races from Newmarket, Market Rasen and Haydock Park. Below are our two best bets for Saturday afternoon’s horse racing action.
2.25 Newmarket
A Group 1 event for two year olds here, the Jaguar Cars Cheveley Park Stakes is contested over a trip of six furlongs and sees 12 runners go to post. The Richard Hannon trained filly Maureen is favourite for this contest at odds of 13/8. That may seem a little skinny for a race with plenty of strength in depth, but she looked very impressive in the Group 3 Princess Margaret Juddmonte Stakes back in July and should take all the beating with a repeat of that fine effort.
Challenging at the head of the market is the William Haggas runner Rosdhu Queen. Unbeaten in three starts to date, Rosdhu Queen warrants respect here coming off the back of victory in the Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York. She has improved with each run thus far and has the assistance of Johnny Murtagh in the saddle. I think she is a value alternative to the favourite at odds of 5/1 and would be my selection for this hot contest.

3.00pm Newmarket
A one mile Group 1 contest, the Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes is open to fillies aged three years and older and this field includes some of the very best female milers from Europe. The bookmakers have installed the Sir Henry Cecil trained Beauty Parlour as the 9/4 favourite for this event. She has an almost flawless record in her native France, having suffered just one defeat in four starts when finishing in second place last time out in the French Oaks.
This is Beauty Parlour’s first start for trainer Henry Cecil and she will likely take the world of beating here. Another leading contender for this Group 1 contest is the John Gosden runner Elusive Kate. She finished third last time out behind Excelebration in France which is top class form. It’s tough to split the market principles but I just feel that the Cecil runner is open to the greater amount of improvement and is a sound bet at odds of 9/4.
