World No 8 Juan Martin Del Potro is a former US Open champion and comes into the final Grand Slam of the season in good form.

The Argentinean (pictured) was unfortunate not to make the final of the London 2012 Olympics, losing to World No 1 Roger Federer in a mammoth semi-final and he warmed up for Flushing Meadows this year by reaching the final four of the Cincinnati Masters.

Del Potro’s opponent today is World No 116 Florent Serra. The Frenchman is a qualifier for the tournament.
