Laura Robson (pictured) booked today’s second round meeting with former US Open champion Kim Clijsters with a straight sets victory over American Sam Crawford.

Robson has struggled on the hard courts leading up to Flushing Meadows and only made it to the first round of the New Haven Open earlier in the month.

Clijsters’ last result was her quarter-final loss to Maria Sharapova at the Olympics.
