Ireland v Scotland, Six Nations
Saturday 10 March 2012, KO 17:00
The second of this weekend’s Six Nations matches sees Scotland travel to the Aviva Stadium to take on an Irish side who are coming off the back of two decent results. The game takes place at 5pm on Saturday 10th March and is live on BBC1. Ireland are clear favourites with the bookies at 2/9 but considering the Scots are still on zero points from three games paid, I actually expected the Irish to be even shorter than that, especially with home advantage.
Ireland were very unlucky in their first game of this year’s Six Nations against Wales where they lost by just two points following a last minute Wales penalty. They managed to put that result well and truly behind them with a resounding victory over Italy and then most recently, the Irish came away from the Stade De France with a draw. While they only have three points from their three games played thus far, for me Ireland are one of the best sides in this year’s competition.
Similarly to the Italians who are also yet to get off the mark in the Six Nations, Scotland probably deserve something for their plucky performances in their first three matches. The Scots were narrowly beaten by England in their first game before a comprehensive defeat by Wales which actually looked to be going the way of Scotland in the first half.
I fancy Ireland strongly here, especially with the advantage of the match being played at the Aviva Stadium. They should have no problems covering the 10 point handicap.
