Men’s US Open Semi-Finals Betting Preview & Tips

Andy Murray odds-on to beat Thomas Berdych in the US Open semi-final – but the bookies’ valuation does not do the world number seven justice.

Murray has managed just two wins in his six meetings with Berdych, the latest of which was a straight sets loss on the clay courts of Monaco earlier this year.

The Czech has also won two of their three matches on hard courts prompting Britain’s number one to admit he must change his tactics for Saturday’s final four clash.

Murray is a best price of 2/5, but if you’re looking for better value back over 3.5 sets at 8/11 with Paddy Power.

Both of these players required four sets to book their places in the second weekend at Flushing Meadows. Murray came from a set down and trailing 5-1 in the second to see off Marin Cilic, while Berdych upset Roger Federer.

Despite the Scot’s record against the 26-year-old it’s hard to justify backing against him when he’s in the kind of world beating form which has seen him add an Olympic gold medal and Wimbledon runners-up trophy to his mantelpiece over the summer.

In the other men’s semi-final Juan Martin Del Potro could be worth taking on at 5/1. The Argentinian is in good form and is a former US Open champion, while Novak Djokovic has suffered a sobering year after his scintillating 2011.
