Japan have so far lived up to their title of world champions, and reached the last four of the tournament with an impressive 2-0 defeat of gold medal favourites Brazil.

France have also shown signs of intent after their 4-2 opening loss to the USA, and have won every match since, including a 5-0 rout of North Korea.

The French squeezed past last year’s World Cup semi-finalists Sweden in the last eight and today’s match should be an even affair, with the draw looking a good bet at 2/1.

However, Japan’s form against Brazil and a strong Canada team, who they beat 2-1, suggests they will progress while France’s penchant for goals also looks set to continue so expect a swollen score line.
