Both Cardiff and Huddersfield crashed out of the Capital One Cup in mid-week to lower league opposition. However, both were also missing several key players through internationals.

Malky Mackay has been able to strengthen his squad over the summer and the addition of Craig Bellamy is a shrewd piece of business.

Cardiff are odds-on for the victory tonight and after Huddersfield’s performance against Preston on Monday in the League Cup it is not surprising.

Simon Grayson was missing five international players for the 2-0 loss but apart from Jordan Rhodes the returners will not have that much of an impact. It also remains to be seen just what frame of mind Rhodes (pictured) is in, with several clubs interested in the striker not least Championship rivals Blackburn.

Although the 22-year-old looked okay for Scotland in mid-week, where he opened his account for the season with a strike against Australia, and his price of 15/8 to score anytime is tempting regardless of the question marks.

Huddersfield were thoroughly out played by North End at Deepdale and Grayson himself admitted afterwards that if they replicate that performance in the Championship it would not end well.

And despite Cardiff also underwhelming against Northampton the Blue Birds (Red Dragons) should oblige their best price of 5/6 to take all three points.
