Preston, who travel to Bournemouth, are a team practising remarkable consistency.

The Lilywhite’s 1-0 loss to Shrewsbury on Tuesday was their third consecutive match in which the 2.5 goals line has been safe. In fact in their previous 13 games only two have produced three or more goals.

Graham Westley’s team are solid at the back, and the only goal they’ve conceded this season was a wonder-strike from Shrewsbury’s Paul Parry – ironically a player Westley ostracised over the summer.

The previous two meetings between Preston and Bournemouth have finished 1-0, with one win each and even at 4/6 under 2.5 goals is worth backing, and looks like a banker for North End unless they sign a proven goal scorer.

Elsewhere in League One, Crewe are a huge 4/1 to beat Brentford. The Railwaymen have won their last seven matches against Brentford in all competitions, and going back to last season have lost just one league match in 18.

That defeat was a 2-1 reversal against a Notts County side that look set to make a promotion push, and the Railwaymen responded by prevailing over Scunthorpe in midweek.

Manager Steve Davis has a potent strike force to call upon including AJ Leitch-Smith and Mathias Pogba (pictured), while Brentford have conceded at least two goals in their previous five league outings.
