Two late goals spared Bolton manager Owen Coyle’s blushes in midweek as the Trotters saw off a weak Derby team 2-0.

On paper Bolton look stronger this season than when in the Premier League, thanks mainly to injury returnees, but Coyle’s team are yet to put theory into practice.

And a painful defeat to local rivals Burnley on the opening day was a reminder that no team gets out of the Championship on merit alone.

Notts Forest are also yet to channel their summer takeover momentum into results with Sean O’Driscoll’s team drawing with Huddersfield in midweek.

Forest are priced at a generous 3/1 for the victory but it’s hard to see Bolton losing at home and the draw looks good value at 12/5.

Neither team has been involved in a match so far this season that has produced over 2.5 goals and at 6/1 the 1-1 correct score could be worth a punt.
